Project summary:

REDSHInE project aims to design and prototype novel modular power converters based on SiC (Silicon Carbide) technology to support the future distribution grids dominated by renewables (voltage, frequency, inertia supports).

The project consortium is composed of CISSOID and CE+T Power as the industrial partners as well as UMONS and University of Liège as the academic partners. Within the project, the UMONS contribution focuses on designing efficient grid forming control systems for the targeted DC-AC power converters considering specificities of distribution grids. The designed power converters are expected to actively participate in control and stability of distribution grid via frequency and voltage support, as well as the provision of synthetic inertia.

In addition, the complementary aspects such as control system interactions and interoperability of the power converters are to be addressed.
